CARING FOR CATS IN BARNSLEY

Barnsley Cats Protection Branch was founded in October 1981. We are a small group of volunteers dedicated to the welfare of cats and kittens in the Barnsley area. This website has been set up to highlight the cats in our care who need new homes and to keep you updated on events such as fundraising and neutering campaigns.

If you feel you could help out in any way, volunteering at the shop, fundraising, fostering, etc.,   Click here to download our Volunteer Form

    Thinking of Adopting a Cat?

Before starting the process of adopting one of our cats, please take a few minutes to consider the following :

  • You could be committing to your new cat for up to 20 years. Can you offer continued stability?
  •  You should expect to visit the vets at least once a year for a health check and vaccination. Other preventative health care measures include de-fleaing (usually a monthly treatment).More on our Feature Page...

PoppyCan you give Poppy a home?

Lovely Poppy came to us originally as her owners had a new baby in the house. She was rehomed once by us but didn't get on with their cat so had to come back. She would be better suited as an only cat and to a family with no small children as if she gets frightened can be defensive. Poppy loves to be fussed and will sit on laps when she feels like it. Someone who understands the need to take it slowly with her would be ideal. She chose to be an indoor cat at her other home so probably won't go outside much, if at all. We always recommend keeping a new cat indoors for AT LEAST the first 6 weeks anyway to let them settle which reduces the risk of them going missing if they do choose to go out.
